If you are like me and absolutely loveeee Yogen Fruz(Frozen yogurt stand) Then you will love this recipe. It tastes exactly like it! (Believe me I would tell you if it didn't!). You may be a bit weirded out by the ingredients, because..there is actually no yogurt in this recipe! But you don't need it(I have tried with greek yogurt and it tastes good but not AS GOOD as with cottage cheese!) I known many of you dislike cottage cheese but honestly you cannot taste it at all and it gets blended so creamy, it is just like the block of frozen yogurt they use! Just give it a shot and come back here and tell me you didn't like it 😉
So here's the recipe…
-1/2 cup cottage cheese(You can use any kind such as fat-free, I personally use 2% just because that's what I have on hand)
-1/3-1/2 cup frozen raspberries (You can sub any fruit for the banana/raspberries that you like for your yogen fruz, this was just the flavour I personally always loved! Another fav. of mine is adding 1cup frozen mixed strawberries & blueberries)
-1/4 a chopped frozen banana
-1/2 tsp vanilla
-1/2 tbsp-1.5 tbsp splenda or other sweetener to taste(I usually do about a tbsp for my liking)
-1/4 cup of milk of choice(I used 1% or almond milk sometimes)
Directions:
In a blender, combine the cottage cheese, milk(*only add as much as you need for your blender to blend the cottage cheese, you may not have to use the full 1/4 cup), vanilla & splenda until smooth. Pour in your frozen fruit(I add a bit at a time so I can adjust the frozen yogurt to my taste). Blend until smooth and pour into a bowl.(I like to add a little additional frozen fruit to the bowl to make it chunky haha). Place in the freezer for about 10 minutes or until it reaches your desired consistency. Top with a little extra frozen fruit or some chopped almonds and enjoy!! 🙂
*If you are in a hurry like me, you can eat it straight from the blender! It will be a little less thick but still just as great! (Though the freezer for 10 minutes really gives it that frozen yogurt texture!)
*Feel free to add vanilla protein powder!
I personally love cottage cheese and I eat it all the time plain! A lot of my friends think i'm crazy but I could live off of that stuff haha, what do you guys think? Are any of you weird like me and love cottage cheese?
