Low Carb Red Pepper & Cream Cheese Pinwheels

These Low Carb Red Pepper and Cream Cheese Pinwheels might be one of my favourite things ever. They have been made by my Mom for years as a party appetizer. Everyone always becomes obsessed with them and asks for the recipe immediately!

My friends and family know them all too well. When you see the pinwheels coming..you better run and grab some because they are about to disappear in the blink of an eye!

I now make them for myself using low carb wraps. Personally I buy the “Flat Out Protein UP” wraps. I use the roasted red pepper one's for these because I like the bit of spice they add but the plain ones are also great.

You can use any wraps you want but these are my personal favourite!

Also please note that these are meant to be appetizers! A whole filled wrap is 15g NET carbs on its own. I usually don't eat a full one myself, I just have a few pieces but if you'd like to, just be aware of that.

Anyways, if you really want to impress your guests, I highly recommend these pinwheels they are absolutely amazing and super simple to make!

This recipe is adapted from the Looney Spoons recipe “Fairest Wheels”.

Tips For Making Low Carb Red Pepper and Cream Cheese Pinwheels

  • You can add less red pepper jelly if you want to keep the carbs down but I highly recommend adding more if making it for guests as it adds a really nice punch of flavour!
  • Let your wraps sit, wrapped in Saran Wrap in the fridge overnight for the best flavour! Everything really melds together and the protein wraps start to soften up a bit.
  • The original recipe for these contains lettuce but personally we found it to alway get soggy and detract from the flavour. Feel free to add some greens for health reasons if you are eating the wraps right away and not leaving them in the fridge overnight!
  • These wraps can also be made vegetarian. We've done it before to accommodate some of our guests. Just leave out the chicken and add a bit of extra red pepper..good to go!
  • To help your tortillas hold together, you can spread a small amount of mixture on the edge that you are rolling the wrap towards to help it stick.
