I am confused, what is sugar-free maple syrup. The only significant in maple syrup is…sugar. It is tree sugar. That’s what maple syrup is – it is a form of sugar that comes from a different than the cane sugar that is what we mainly consume.

Hey, thanks for the comment πŸ™‚ Well, it’s not real maple syrup, it’s sweetened with splenda, I only use it once and a while for pancakes or to replace part of the honey in recipes. The brand I use is Old Thyme. It tastes pretty close to syrup though and is much less calories :). Hope that helps!

Ah, ok. Thanks for explaining! My view would be that a small amount of maple syrup (real stuff) every once in a while is much healthier than Splenda, but then I’m one of those people who believes synthetic sugar substitutes are more harmful than what they replace.

I totally agree! I have replaced splenda with honey or natural stevia most times now but real maple syrup I can only get once in a while because it is super expensive so I have to compromise and use sugar-free. But I do have it when my grandparents make it from home πŸ™‚ That’s the best!

I agree! I always know when I accidentally ingest synthetic sugar because I get such bad migraines. It took me a while to realize what it was because I rarely have anything “diet.” One day I grabbed a diet snapple out of desperation of thirst…I first was upset that it was diet because it tasted terrible, then I got the headache!
